Consultation Meeting on Role of Media for Raising Massive Awareness on Village Courts

On 29 September 2019, Sunday, Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh Phase II Project (AVCB II) is organizing a consultation meeting ‘Role of media for raising massive awareness on village courts’ with senior journalists at the Ballroom of Hotel Sonargoan. Mr. Md Tazul Islam, MP, Honorable Minister, MoLGRD&C has given his kind consent to be present as Chief Guest of the event.

As Special Guests Mr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Secretary, Local Government Division; Ms. Rensje Teerink, Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh and Mr. Sudipto Mukerjee, Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh will be present in the event.

In 2018, the project organized 27 consultation meetings with journalists at district level with the leadership of Deputy Commissioners. This Dhaka level meeting is a continuation of the district level events.

With financial and technical support of the European Union, Bangladesh Government and UNDP Local Government Division is implementing AVCB II project in 1,080 unions of 128 upazilas under 27 districts of 8 divisions. The project is supporting to make village courts, operating under union parishads more active and functional for resolving disputes at the local level in an expeditious, transparent and affordable manner.
